  • Our 5th visit to this gorgeous place. We've had a wild week, weather-wise, and the trip to Mingulay was sadly cancelled, but it means we'll have to come back! Nothing could ever dampen our enthusiasm fo this beautiful part of the world. Mark & Lyndsey, Cheshire

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful welcome and what a wonderful week we've had in this beautiful seaside haven. Being able to sit in the lounge and enjoy the sea view in all the changing light and conditions is marvellous. It is such a relaxing spot as well as being an excellent base to explore north and south. Looking forward to a return visit. Lorna & Willie Souter, Midlothian
  • This is a perfect retreat for all those who wish to slow right down and appreciate how life needs to be lived once in a while. The wildlife, the fresh air, the constantly changing colours dependent on the state of the sky. Walk (or run) from Croft Garden Cottage and see oystercatchers, hen harriers and curlew. The extras provided by Chris & Christine help set-up a perfect week. The cottage is perfectly positioned from which to explore the Uists; boat trips from Berneray, walks on the rugged east, machair walks on the sandy west. Finally the window seat sit here and lose yourself! Jaine & Bob, Leeds

  • We have had a wonderful week with some superb hot, sunny weather at the start. We've loved all the walking we've done in stunning surroundings. The cottage has enabled us to really rest. Loved the window seat. Thank you so much for a wonderful week. David & Sarah, Surrey
  • A wonderful return to this special place. Weather mostly good this time round, but we don't come here for the weather. Great birding and photography - from "bubbling" linnets in the garden, juvenile sea eagle over Loch Boisdale and getting dive bombed by arctic terns at Balranald. From the beauty to the brutality of nature as we watched an great skua kill on the beach outside. This is a special cottage on a special island and we'll count the days to our return. Thanks Christine for the warm welcome, the delicious brownies and the fresh cucumbers. Chris & Rosie, Co. Durham
  • Visit number 4 to "our cottage" on "our island"! First time in the summer and lovely to see the machair and a Great Yellow Bumblebee. Otters, seals, harriers, eagles, merlins, short-eared owls - what better holiday could there be? As ever, Chris and Christine were so welcoming and hospitable, providing the best broccoli we've ever eaten, plus the wonderful marmalade, of course. Thank you for another week of relaxation and we'll see you next year! Mark & Lyndsey, Cheshire

  • We have had a lovely, if shortened visit to croft cottage due to ferry cancellation. The cottage is really comfortable and cosy and has everything we need. Despite the mixed weather we cycled 40 miles around Benbecula and walked up Ben Mor on a wonderful day. We have enjoyed seeing "Bruce" the very pale coloured buzzard on the fence post outside, seals, gannets and oystercatchers. We have seen a red-throated diver and a short-eared owl. We have also had other shorter walks and "heard" the corncrakes. Lyn & Steve, North Yorkshire
  • A truly stunning cottage in an idyllic setting. The perfect relaxing setting for exploring the Uists and simply watching the wildlife, whether from the perfect window seat or whilst walking in the beautiful beaches. Many thanks and looking forward to a return visit...soon! Chris & Jackie
  • Thank you for letting us share your Hebridean paradise..... and produce! Sheila & Dave, Staffordshire Moorlands

  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here in this lovely cottage. Weather a bit mixed but more than half has been great and our last day the best of all. Great treat to see seals every day from the cottage and a pair of great northern divers at the same spot. Today we saw parent shelducks with their three offspring in the open water. Highly recommended Stepping Stones for meals in Balivanich. Thank you Christine for your care and attention. Jean & Richard, Guildford, Surrey
  • The cottage has been a delightful base from which top begin our exploration of this fascinating area. We have enjoyed our week here and look forward to our next few days based in Harris. Many thanks for the delicious marmalade, fruit loaf and for the spinach. Discovering your story on-line before we came also added to the pleasure of our stay. Nigel & Olga, Hampshire

  • Holiday on the edge of Scotland did not fail to meet expectations despite several days of gale force winds, heavy rain and a ferry running aground. Warm weather by Friday and enjoyed lunch outside at Kilbride Cafe (free wi-fi) with great views of Barra. Lots of good walks, especially liked Eriskay. Thanks to Chris & Christine for showing us around their amazing garden - inspirational! Bill & Janet, Perthshire

  • Wonderful comfortable cottage with fantastic views from the window seat, an ever changing picture we would never be bored of watching. Great location to explore locally and both north and south. Loved the hills of Harris, tiny Barra and all the various landscapes in between. Would also recommend west beach in Berneray, Kallin crab, the various brown sign posted locations as you travel up and down the main road and a venture up at least one hill to see the view........... Mike & Ali, Southport
  • A charming property in a delightful location. Rugged scenery combined with peace and tranquility - a great way to recharge the batteries. This is a good base from which to explore both Uists and Benbecula. Whichever way one goes the landscapes and wildlife are spectacular. Jenny & Nick, Manchester
  • An idyllic holiday in terms of peace, beauty of landscape, skies and seas...A perfect setting from which to explore the Uists and Benbecula for the first time. We have enjoyed everything - even the wind and the rain - knowing we had this beautiful retreat to come home to. Highlights - West Beach Berneray and the wee seals in the bay here. • Beautiful, tranquil location for a holiday cottage - the ocean view is mesmerising. Thank you for making us feel welcome. We were lucky with the weather - only 2 rainy days. Saw short-eared owl, merlin from the window - and hen harrier! Charlie's Beach on Eriskay at low tide was fantastic - West Beach on Berneray was amazing! Dawn & Gordon, Tottington, Lancs.
  • Wild, windswept and "well away from it all", Croft Garden ticked all the boxes. We had a very relaxing week. Highlights have been - watching the sea eagles from the Lady Anne, Clachan Sands, the west beach on Berneray and salmon sandwiches at the Lobster Pot Tearoom. The Croft itself is very cosy, especially with the stove lit on a rainy afternoon! Jo & Patrick, Leigh-on-Sea

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. Looking out from the windowseat each evening has been a delight. We strongly recommend a boat trip with Lady Anne boat trips from Kallin. The scenery of the east side of the coast is wonderful and the wildlife amazing - we even saw a whale, probably a Humpback. Andrew & Paul, the Lake District
  • Great week wildlife and bird watching - Hen Harriers, Short-eared Owls and seals from the window. Recommend the wheelhouse at Cladu Hallan, RSPB Balranald, cake at the Post Office and smoked salmon from Salar. We hope to visit this wonderful cottage on this beautiful island again. We love the machair but we have yet to see the elusive Corncrake. Many thanks. Chris & Rosie, Durham

  • We've been very lucky with the weather very little rain and lots of sunshine. Saw seals, otter and short-eared owl from the window. Recommend the RSPB walks to see more otters, raptors and learn about wild flowers. We'll have to return for the eagles and the dolphins. We've had some great walks on beaches, hills and machair. Many thanks to Christine for her welcome, cake, organic veg and eggs. Sue & Adrian, Shipley, W. Yorks.

  • Our second stay at Croft Garden Cottage has been just as good as our first. We have had mainly dry weather with burst of brilliant sunshine. We had two great boat trips on the Lady Anne - all day to the Monach Isles and 2 hours round Ronay. The Monach Isles will be remembered for the seals and a basking shark; Ronay for Risso's dolphins, porpoises, sea eagles and red deer. Lucy & Andrew, Munich
